Origami Onigiri Studios is an independent creative studio built around a love of games, characters, making and experimentation.
Our work can move between game design, code, illustration, 3D modelling, prototyping, fabrication and physical product design. That mix is deliberate. We like seeing what happens when ideas from one medium collide with another.
Game development is our core focus, across PC, console and mobile. Around that, we explore educational games, toys, collectibles, board games and card games — different forms of play built from the same underlying design thinking.
We prefer working ideas over beautiful assumptions. We build, test, break, adjust and repeat. The aim is not to protect the first idea. The aim is to find the version that actually works.
The experience comes before the feature list.
Memorable silhouettes, behaviour and personality make worlds easier to care about.
Whether it is clay, paper, plastic, cards or pixels, the medium should influence the design.
Players should understand important things quickly.
A game, toy or tabletop version should exist because that format adds something — not because everything needs merchandise.
We are always interested in unusual game concepts, smart learning experiences, memorable characters and physical products that feel different from everything around them.
